ChirpSounds System (Complete)
ChirpSounds System (Complete)
The ChirpSounds system is everything you need to hear your birds right through your windows! Check out the clips shown here (sound has to be unmuted!). With unparalleled sound quality, rustic look, and wireless convenience, this complete system includes a TX1 Transmitter that you'll hang outside, pre-paired with a long range speaker to play the sounds inside. It will arrive ready to work right out of the box, so you can order it for yourself or send it to a loved one with confidence.
The TX1 Transmitter (everyone calls it "The Acorn"):
The wireless transmitter has a very sensitive microphone, a rechargeable battery that lasts a week between charges, and some custom electronics to make it all work, carefully tucked into a weather-proof and durable housing. There's no complicated set-up, no apps, and no subscriptions...just the pure sounds from your feeder as they happen in real time! Just as simple as the set up is the operation of the system. Once the two parts are paired together, they'll remember each other. You'll simply hang the acorn outside, and the speaker does everything else. When you turn the speaker off, the acorn drops into a very low power state to preserve battery capacity. As soon as you turn the speaker back on, they reconnect and in seconds, your house will again be filled with bird sounds in seconds. You'll adjust the volume with the speaker's volume controls. It couldn't be simpler.
The Speaker:
Most speakers have a range of about 30' with no obstructions (and sometimes a good bit of luck). Not so with our speaker! Manufactured by top-notch Oontz with a powerful wireless radio and outstanding antenna design, this small speaker will connect with your acorn up to 100 feet away (with good line of sight)!
Weighing in at just over half a pound, it cranks out 10W of power and plays all day on its internal rechargeable battery. It's the perfect size to sit on your windowsill. A USB cable (included) charges the unit in conjunction with a USB wall charger (not included, but available from ChirpSounds) similar to the one you use to charge your smartphone. You can also leave it plugged in for extended playing, but just remember to turn the speaker off when not listening, because this causes the rechargeable outdoor unit to sip power and be ready when you turn the speaker back on.
Systems come already pre-connected and ready to use. Both parts are shipped with a partial charge to comply with shipping regulations, but there will be enough for you to put it right outside for a test when it's delivered. Turn the acorn on (press and hold the power button on the inset brown label until the first flashes and then let go) and hang it outside. Head back inside and turn the speaker on (there's an arrow pointing to it)...and enjoy! Give it a listen for a day, then charge both acorn and speaker overnight.
Watching your backyard birds in the cold of Winter (or heat of Summer) is like watching TV with the sound turned down. Join the flock and hear your birds!
Note: There is a clear sticker with the logo on it in the acorn box. Please apply this to the smooth face of the speaker to make it look like the photos.

Its a nice system although the indoor speaker is god but slightly over engineered, thus drawing a lot more battery power for a bluetooth system.
Actually, the speaker is made by Oontz, so we can only take credit for over engineering the acorn. Note that it's okay to leave the speaker plugged in if you use it frequently. Just remember to turn it off when you're not listening so the acorn will drop into its low power mode.
Very good sound quality, good range between units, excellent battery life for both devices. A real game changer by not having wires. This unit can easily be taken with you to use on Location if going on vacation. I have had a corded unit for years, and the audio on the chirp sounds is much improved. Highly recommend.
Thanks for the kind words! We worked very hard to make it a good as you say!
The Chirp Sounds product is great! Very easy to use and set up. I've been wanting a product exactly like this for some time and am so glad to have found it. Even non-birders who come to my house really appreciate it, and my young kids love it, too!
Thank you sir! Let's get together for that cup of coffee soon!
The speaker very accurately reproduced the bird sounds when connected. If the transmitter strength could be improved Chirp Sounds would have a winner, as is, its just a disappointment.
Unfortunately, the bluetooth transmitter in the Acorn is not very strong, with a double pane E glass window and 8' between the units the devises worked, but any greater distance disconnected the Acorn from the speaker.
The Bluetooth transmit power is Class I, which is the max that's allowed. The problem is your window coatings, which are a thin, transparent layer of metal.
I understand the frustration evident in your review. Let's try a few things to try to diagnose the specific problem.
First, take both the acorn and speaker outside and see what kind of range you get. If it's much farther than when you have the parts on opposite sides of your windows/door, the problem is definitely the Low-E coatings in your windows. These can really interfere with getting the signal through. I know we talk a lot about line of sight, but with those coatings, you may have better luck putting the speaker next to the window. With a little luck, your wall will have less shielding.
If you don't get good range outside, there might be something wrong with the acorn. It's not common, but if that's the case, I'll ship you a new one.
Please let me know what you find at support@ChirpSounds.com. A refund is also a possibility if you're really unhappy.

Loving the ChirpSounds! Since it's winter in Michigan right now, this mic and speaker allows me to enjoy the bird songs and chirps around my bird feeders from indoors, where I'm cozy and warm.
We love that you love it! Winter use is what it was designed for, but there are other reasons to have your windows closed. Try it in the Summer too!
